DMCA & Trademark Policy

url.vu respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. We respond promptly to valid copyright and trademark infringement notices.
1. Reporting Copyright Infringement
If you are a copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of one, and you believe that a link on url.vu directs users to content that infringes your copyright, you may submit a written DMCA notice to us. To be effective, your notice must include:
- Your name, address, email, and phone number.
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or an authorized representative.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
- The URL(s) on url.vu that are claimed to be infringing.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner.

2. Response to DMCA Notices
Upon receiving a valid DMCA notice, we will:
- Remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing link(s).
- Notify the user who posted the link of the takedown.
- Repeat violations may result in account termination.
3. Counter Notification
If you believe that your link was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may file a counter-notification. Your counter notice must include:
- Your name, address, email, and phone number.
- The URL(s) of the content that was removed or disabled.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district, and that you will accept service of process from the person who submitted the original DMCA notice.
We may restore the removed content if we do not receive notice of legal action within 10–14 business days.
4. Repeat Infringers
In accordance with the DMCA and other applicable laws, we reserve the right to terminate accounts of users who are repeat infringers.
Trademark Infringement Reporting
If you are a trademark owner and believe that a linkspace, short code, or username on url.vu infringes your trademark rights, you may submit a trademark complaint.
1. Trademark Violations We Address
- Linkspace Names: Using your trademark as a linkspace (e.g., url.vu/yourbrand/)
- Short Codes: Using your trademark in custom short links
- Impersonation: Content designed to mislead users about brand affiliation
- Counterfeit Promotion: Links promoting counterfeit goods using your trademark
2. How to Report Trademark Infringement
To report trademark infringement, email trademark@url.vu with the following information:
- Your name, company name, and contact information
- The trademark you own (include registration number if available)
- The specific url.vu URL(s) that you believe infringe your trademark
- An explanation of how the content infringes your trademark
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the trademark owner, its agent, or the law
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the trademark owner
3. Our Response to Trademark Complaints
Upon receiving a valid trademark complaint, we will:
- Review within 48 hours - We commit to reviewing valid reports promptly
- Take appropriate action - This may include suspending access to the infringing content, removing the linkspace, or disabling the short code
- Notify the account holder - We will inform the user of the complaint and the action taken
- Track repeat offenders - Accounts with multiple valid trademark complaints may be terminated
4. Protected Brand Names
url.vu maintains a list of protected brand names that require verification before use. If you are a legitimate representative of a trademarked brand and wish to claim your brand's linkspace, please contact us at trademark@url.vu with proof of authorization.
5. Nominative Fair Use
We recognize that not all uses of trademarks constitute infringement. Nominative fair use (using a trademark to refer to the actual trademarked product) is generally permitted. For example:
